ARCWIND 4th Progress Meeting in Bilbao 27-12-2019 in IST-CENTEC
From 10 to 12 December 2019, ARCWIND partners have met in Bilbao to present the new achievements in the project.
It was also an opportunity to visit VICINAY’s premises and knowing the fabrication process of the moorings that will be used in the floating platforms as well as visit the place where SAITEC partner is assembled the 1:6 scale model of the 10MW turbine SATH platform that will be installed in SANTANDER’s Bay.

Shanghai Ranking of the World Universities 2019 28-06-2019 in IST-Centec
For the third year, consecutively, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of IST (ULisboa) is in the Top 5 of the "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2019 of the Shanghai Ranking", and is number 2 in Europe.
Besides, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of IST (ULisboa) is the best-ranked scientific area in Portugal, revealing the excellent quality of the work developed by its researchers.

ARCWIND Project Mini-Symposium – 20 June 2019 26-06-2019 in IST-CENTEC
The mini symposium of ARCWIND project was hosted by UCC during the WESC Conference that took place from 17th to 20th June 2019 in Cork, Ireland.
The Mini-symposium was organized in 3 sessions, of 4 papers each, where the partners have presented their main achievements to adapt 3 floating wind energy platforms in the waters of the Atlantic Area. The symposium was attended by several researchers and experts who also participated in the conference and some synergies were created with other projects that also focus on floating wind energy platforms.
MARSTRUCT 2019 13-05-2019 in IST - CENTEC
The 7th International Conference on Marine Structures (MARSTRUCT2019) was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, hosted by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb.
The conference was co-organized by CENTEC-IST and had around 75 presentations and 120 participants.

International Joint Laboratory of Naval Architecture and Offshore Technology 09-04-2019 in IST-Centec
The Ministry of Education of China announced the setting up of an International Joint Laboratory of Naval Architecture and Offshore Technology between the Harbin Engineering University (HEU) and the University of Lisbon (UL), at Harbin Engineering University Headquarters.
This approval is considered very important in China as it will be the only "International Joint Laboratory" in China in the scientific area of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. The University of Lisbon will, thus, be the only foreign university to hold this kind of association with China in this area.

1st WECANET Annual Assembly 2019 15-02-2019 in IST - CENTEC
Two CENTEC researcher members (José Gaspar and Hugo Diáz) have participated in the 1st WECANET Annual Assembly 2019 in Thessaloniki, Greece, on February 11-12, 2019 at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
WECANet is the first COST programme pan-European Network aiming to provide a platform and forum for efficient cross-border networking, exchange of information and identification of strategic research needed to deal with challenges and knowledge gaps for promoting deployment, commercialization and advancement of the wave energy sector. Through interdisciplinary approach and by deriving integrative concepts and tools for wave energy applications, WECANet aims at increasing confidence of potential investors, which will have beneficial impact on researchers and SMEs. WECANet’s main target is the equal research, collaboration and funding opportunities for all researchers.
