The Programmes
The graduate programme in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering started in Portugal in 1981 with the creation of the Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico.
Currently, education in this area is offered in all three cycles of university higher education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (1st cycle – 3 years)
• Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (2nd cycle – 2 years)
• Advanced Studies Diploma in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (3rd cycle – 1 year)
• Doctorate in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (3rd cycle – 4 years)
• Advanced Training Diploma in Risk Assessment, Safety, and Reliability (1 year)
