Funding Entity: EU - Programme GROWTH

This project is the response of the maritime community to the pressing societal need to raise the dangerously low level of safety in current RoRo design without compromising on the cardinal feature of this design concept: its profitability. The main objectives of NEREUS can be broadly classified in three categories: 1. To achieve a higher understanding of the dynamics of the damaged ship behaviour and refine tools to predict it with sufficient accuracy; 2. To adapt widely accepted methods to assure safety in design to the particular needs of the design of RoRo vessels, using the above tools; 3. To demonstrate the efficacy of the above methodology and disseminate it amongst RoRo vessel designs and regulatory bodies.
