The complete flow around the 30-foot Quebramar 30 yacht is studied using a commercial code. The simulation is performed solving the water and air flow simultaneously in two cases (one testing the robustness of the simulation model and another, more realistic one). The water flow velocity is based on the value of the maximum theoretical speed of the boat while the wind velocity is based on experience of sailors. The grid is unstructuctured with regions of density around the hull. The code uses Finite Volumes for the discretization of the numerical model. The turbulence model used was SST (Shear Stress Transport). As there are no experimental results available, for partial validation of the results, previous work in this field was used.
