The work presented here performs time variant modeling of structural deterioration of deck structures of bulk carriers along the entire ship life. All structural components of deck structure deteriorate as a function of their individual corrosion rate and non-linearly in time. Various corrosion deterioration states are evaluated and surface response functions representing the reduction of structural component thickness are derived. Structural integrity assessment of deteriorated deck structures are analyzed based on a finite element method. The thickness of plate and beam elements, used for modeling of deck structures, varies as defined by the surface response function.
