An important initiative at European level, involving about 70 institutions, addresses the questions related with the assessment and management of safety and reliability of industrial products, systems and structures. It covers in principle all types of industrial plant, equipment, structural systems, buildings and other civil engineering facilities. The focus will be on safety-critical systems in industrial sectors of oil & gas production facilities, process industries, power (nuclear, conventional, renewable energies), shipbuilding and maritime transport, surface transport (road and rail), and buildings.
