This paper aims to review the environmental factors affecting corrosion of ship hull structures and formulations that model the time dependent corrosion wastage of marine structures. Three different types of corrosion according to the surrounding environment were considered, namely, immersion corrosion, atmospheric corrosion and tank corrosion. The factors affecting the time dependent behavior of each corrosion type are discussed. Due to the large extent of the marine structure, the corrosion wastage varies along the vertical and longitudinal directions of hull and the factors affecting its distribution are also reviewed.
