Ports represent powerful point sources of the environment pollution. Water in ports is polluted with oil, grease and other organic pollutants, viruses and bacteria and inorganic pollutants, such as toxic elements and nutrients. Water pollution sources in ports and pollutants health and environmental impact are highlighted. Measures for mitigating the water pollution are commented.
