The versatility of its cross-sectional shapes and the effectiveness of industrial production processes have led to the growing use of cold-formed thin-walled steel (CFS) in engineering. However, CFS members would suffer from severe local corrosion in corrosive environments, endangering structural integrity. This paper presents the local defect on the web simulated by a numerical investigation of stub CFS-lipped channels with local web corrosion. The finite element models were established by ABAQUS software, and a further parametric study was performed. The results revealed that corrosion width and depth significantly impact the axial compression capacity, decreasing as the corrosion region moves closer to the corner regions. The codified approaches were modified to predict the axial compression capacity of stub CFS-lipped channels with local web corrosion.
