The main goal of this paper is to search for trends in the wave power resources at the Portuguese pilot zone. The study is done using two datasets, one from 1979-1990 presented here and the other one from 2000-2011, provided earlier by a wave modelling system largely validated. This wave modelling system consist in two wave models coupled, WAVEWATCH III, to account for the wave generation, and SWAN, to account for the wave transformation at coastal areas. The spectral outputs from the first model are used as boundary conditions for a first area of SWAN, which in turn provides the boundary conditions for high resolution area. As results, the seasonal (spring, summer, autumn and winter) averages for the two data sets in total time, with a presentation of their spatial distribution, and for each year is presented. A linear regression was fit for the total and for the winter data, showing in general an increasing rate through the years.
