(2024), Coupling analysis of a semi-submersible platform with an array of wave energy devices, Advances in Maritime Technology and Engineering, Guedes Soares, C. & Santos T.A. (Eds.), Taylor and Francis, London, UK, pp. 507-512.
The hydrodynamic performance of a floating semi-submersible platform for wave power extraction is investigated. The floating system consists of a triple-column platform and an array of eagle-type oscillating bodies, of which the relative motion of the two aspect drives the Power Take-Off (PTO) system to extract wave power. The Lagrange multiplier method is employed to formulate the frequency-domain motion equation for the present multi-body system. The investigation focuses on the hydrodynamic analysis of the floating platform and the oscillating bodies and the influence of the key parameters, such as PTO damping. Results indicate that, comparing with the isolated platform, the presence of the wave energy device array significantly modifies the hydrodynamic responses of the platform.
