This study proposes explicit approaches for modeling ship structural loads including the temporal correlation of wave-induced load pulses. The available methods for ship structural load modeling are critically reviewed. The correlated wave-induced loads in each sea state are modeled using the stochastic Markov process and a closed-form formulations are derived to estimate the extreme value distribution of wave-induced effects and load combination. Finally, the applicability of the proposed framework is investigated for an Aframax tanker in the full load condition and the obtained results based on the proposed approach are compared with the existing approach.
