A novel concept of a multi-observational eccentric elliptical ship domain is introduced, based on AIS data extraction. By considering varying data cumulative densities and characteristics of different directions, the method adapts the ship domain to reflect the characteristics of local traffic patterns. The study analyzes the relationship between the ship domain and speed across a selected ship type. Subsequently, the empirically calibrated ship domains are applied to identify near-collision scenarios in the research water, offering reference insights for maritime traffic supervision.
