Sobral, J., Maia, G. and Guedes Soares, C. (2023), Application of Reliability Centered Maintenance to wind turbines, Trends in Renewable Energies Offshore, Guedes Soares, C. (Ed.), Taylor and Francis Group, London, UK, pp. 867-875
This paper addresses how Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) can be applied to a wind turbine to optimize the operation and maintenance activities with higher reliability and less downtime and costs. Some information about wind turbines and the RCM Process is made and the RCM Process is applied in a generic mode for the most critical elements of a typical wind turbine. The main focus is on the importance of the operational context of each system under analysis and how it can influence the results and the adequate establishment of a maintenance plan for wind turbines in a wind farm, regardless if it is an onshore or offshore installation.
