A numerical study is presented on the hydrodynamic response prediction of a tension leg platform with a 10MW floating wind turbine using a potential flow based solution. The objective is to evaluate the validity of the adopted numerical model to estimate the response of the tension leg platform. The numerical simulations are carried out in the time domain, based on a potential flow software under wave and wind loads. The calculations consider constant water depth and include the tension-leg platform, the tower, a 10MW wind turbine and mooring lines. First, the free-floating model is validated. Then, the numerical results for motions and mooring loads at the operating condition are compared with a solution available in literature. The results show reasonable agreement between the present code and the available results, indicating that the model yields sufficiently accurate results for the tension leg platform.
