This work aims to analyse the carbon emissions of container vessels performing regular short sea voyages in the Black Sea. The analysis uses the EMSA THETIS-MRV data covering the period of 2018- 2020. The technical characteristics of ships are extracted from the databases of Equasis.org and MarineTraffic. The operational characteristics, including the fuel consumption and carbon emissions of self-reported data of ships of multiple companies, are evaluated. The emission profiles of typical routes in the Black Sea have been analysed showing the development of the carbon emission from containerships in recent years. Several conclusions about the status of carbon emissions from container shipping in the Black Sea are presented, which may support the short shipping companies in developing measures to incentivise decarbonisation in the region.
