A 3D coupled method is used to model green water and to study numerically the influence of wavelength, wave steepness, and bow rake angle on the green water occurrence and peak pressure on a ship deck. To do that, the global motions of the vessel are obtained in the time domain using an impulse response function. The local hydrodynamic forces of green water load are computed using a commercial CFD solver together with the Volume of Fluid method. The approach is validated using in-house experimental results. Then a systematic parametric study is performed to understand the effect of several geometric and environmental parameters on green water loads. The results indicate that peak pressure due to green water increases significantly with vessel speed for all the wavelengths investigated and decreases with the increase of bow rake angle.
