The interaction between an array of vertical flexible net-type structures and regular waves is investigated by model tests. The present study focuses on the effect of the reflection, the transmission, and the dissipation coefficients through the system consisting of an array of nets made of nylon silky and supported by the vertical steel frame. Several tests are conducted for different wave periods, wave heights, and distances among vertical nets on the reflection, the transmission, and the dissipation coefficients. The performance of the net model is analysed by comparing the performance of different number of vertical nets. It is found that the arrangement of three nets reduces more wave heights than those of two- and one- vertical flexible net models and in this sense, it operates as a floating breakwater. The present model tests analysis will be helpful for better understanding and modelling the effect of several flexible fish cages using net-type structure in offshore aquaculture.
