(2022), “Hydrodynamic analysis of a dual-body Wave Energy Converter device with two different Power Take-off configurations”, Trends in Maritime Technology and Engineering, Guedes Soares, C. & Santos T.A. (Eds.), Taylor and Francis, London, UK, Vol. 2, pp. 499-508.

The present study aims to compare two different power take-off systems installed in a dual body wave energy converter, first the power take-off in between the floater and the submerged body, and second the power take-off in between the submerged body and the sea bottom. It is intent to proof that the second is more efficient. The analyzes is carried out for three different wave energy converters with different bodies, being them cylinder-sphere, cylinder-cylinder, and sphere-sphere, for the floater and submerged body respectively. The analyzes begin by modeling the bodies in NEMOH, a software that allows the calculation of hydrodynam-ical coefficients. With them calculated it is possible to create a dynamical model in frequency domain that optimizes the parameters PTO and mooring/interconnection damping and stiffness of each wave energy con-verter to achieve the maximum efficiency. Final comparison shows that the second configuration have an im-provement of 11%.
