The objective of this study is to investigate the quasi-static wave induced bending load prediction of an off-shore support vessel in head seas using the 2-D strip and 3-D panel methods. The PDSTRIP (Public domain strip code) has been used for the case of the 2-D strip method and AQWA has been used for the case of 3-D panel method. The external wave induced pressures and inertial loads as predicted by two methods have been transferred to the structural FEM model. The weighted least square method and the 2-D Gauss quadrature have been used for the external pressure mapping on the structural model. Finally, the wave induced bending moment has been calculated on the structural model as a function of encountering frequency and ship speed and compared with the one as predicted by the FEM. Finally, some conclusions are presented.
