A numerical model associated with wave interaction with a moored articulated very large floating structure is presented. An analytical model is formulated under the linearized wave theory and small structural response and the analytical solution is obtained using the velocity decomposition method along with a matching technique. The effects of different design parameters on the wave elevation and wave forces are analysed with the Airy and 2nd order Stokes wave models. Several numerical results of reflection and transmission coefficients are compared with the analytical solutions, for a variety of design parameters of the articulated plates, and a good level of agreement is observed, showing that, as the wavelength increases, the reflection coefficient increases whilst the transmission coefficient decreases. Furthermore, numerical results indicate that the stiffness of the hinges of the articulated structure do not seem to have much effect on these coefficients. Nevertheless, the present results also show that the rotational stiffness of the hinges greatly affect the vertical displacement of the structure as well as the numerically computed tensions on the mooring lines.
