An uncertainty analysis is presented on the pseudo-shakedown phenomenon of rigid, perfectly plastic rectangular plates subjected to repeated dynamic pressure pulses. The maximum transverse displacement for a structure subjected to a short duration pulse would be smaller than the corresponding static deflection associated with the pressure pulse having same peak value. Under this circumstance, the phenomenon of pseudo-shakedown would occur under the repeated dynamic pressure pulses. The uncertainties are considered for the variables involved in the plastic response of rectangular plate. Monte Carlo Simulations are used to generate the random variables. Based on the rigid, perfectly plastic analysis, the dynamic maximum displacement and the static maximum displacement of rectangular plate under pressure pulse can be calculated when inputting the uncertain variables. The histograms of these maximum displacements are obtained and their probability density functions are analyzed. The probability of failure is calculated. Finally, sensitivity analyses for random variables are performed by using the first-order second-moment method and linear regression method.
