Guedes Soares, C., Ferreira, A.M. and Cunha, C. (1994), “Auto-Regressive Model for the Long Term Series of Significant Wave Height in the Portuguese Coast”, Modelling of Coastal and Estuarine Processes, F.J. Seabra & A. Temperville, Coimbra, pp. 59-70

Autogressive moving average (ARMA) models are used in this work to represent the sequence of the significant wave heights in three locations of the Portuguese coast. The time series of the monthly averages and standard deviations are studied and the seasonal component of the series is identified. The ARMA models are then applied to the data of Faro, Sines and Figueira da Foz and predictions based on these models are presented.
