This publication analyses the hydrodynamic interaction between two ships by resorting to physical and numerical modelling, one stationary ship, the “Esso Osaka”, and the other in motion, the “Aurora”. The ship movements of the stationary ship are induced by wake waves made by another ship navigating nearby. Various speeds of the moving ship, the Aurora, were performed, and for different water depths. An analysis of the results obtained were made for different conditions, both for generated wave movement, and for induced motions on the “Esso Osaka”. With regards to the generated wave movement, the wake waves, the average values are compared with the empirical formulas in literature. Finally, the movements registered are analyzed and compared, for some test conditions, with the numerical results obtained, by using the numerical simulation package used for moored ships, SWAMS. An evaluation of the performance of the numerical package is carried out.
