The objective is to investigatethe average stress-strainbehaviour of structural componentsas a part of a box girder subjected to progressivecollapse. Two typesof structural components arestudiedhere identified as stiffened plates and hard corners. The bending moment-curvature relationship of the box girder,derived based on the incremental progressive collapse method, usingthe FEM developed average stress-straincurves of the stiffened plates,andhard cornersare analysed and compared with the non-linear finite element solution. Several conclusions derived from the present analysis are alsopresented.
