Almany, N., Tekgoz, M. and Garbatov, Y. (2019), “Design of an offshore multipurpose support vessel”, Advances in Renewable Energies Offshore, Guedes Soares, C., (Ed.), Taylor & Francis, London, UK, pp. 905-914

The objective of this work is to design an offshore multipurpose support vessel of a medium size that can also support the operation of renewable energy farms. The work reviews the present state of the art and modern software tools currently used in offshore multipurpose support vessel design. The vessel design tasks cover the general arrangement and compartmentalization, vessel hull offset, equipment and structural weights, resistance, shaft power and loads. The work also deals with vessel structural design loads, scantling and buckling control. The estimated stresses are compared to the acceptable design levels. This offshore multipurpose support vessel is designed for a specific operation to be performed, but the initial design can be extended, and may be adapted for more broaden offshore multipurpose services in the Mediterranean Sea.
