Long-Term probability distribution of significant wave height are from measurements conducted in Sines and Faro. Before fitting the distributions the sea states are classified according to the type of wave systems contained and the distributions are fitted to these more homogeneous data sets. Log-normal and Weibull distributions are used and it is concluded that, although the first one may be acceptable for moderate heights, it is not good for the low levels of probability. The yearly and monthly variability of the extrapolated results are analysed and the statistical variability of the first type of results is compared with the seasonality of the second ones.
