Experimental and numerical simulations of manoeuvres of a self-running ship model are presented. The experimental manoeuvring tests were carried out for a self-running ship model in an outdoor pool, following the ITTC recommended procedures. The self-running ship model is 2.5 m length and it is equipped with motions sensor, positioning GPS, propulsion DC motors, wi-fi shore communication, and anemometer. Numerical simulations of ship manoeuvres were carried out based in a 3DOF nonlinear model the same ship model. The manoeuvres considered were 20º/20º and 10º/10º zigzag. Comparisons between the experimental results and numerical simulations are also presented.
