Guedes Soares, C. and Dias, S. (1996), “Probabilistic Models of Still-Water Load Effects in Containers”, Marine Structures, Vol. 9, Issues 3-4, pp. 287-312

Still-water data from 40 containerships, in a total of about 3500 voyages, were analysed statistically in order to provide the values of the parameters of the probabilistic models that describe the variability of these still-water load effects. The results obtained agreed with previously published data, solidifying the knowledge of the variability of still-water load effects for this type of ships. This work explored for the first time whether for a given ship class there would be different probabilistic models applicable to different routes and the conclusion was that whenever the routes were significantly different, the same probabilistic model was not applicable.
