Campos, R. and Guedes Soares, C. (2016), “Regional frequency analysis of wind speed on the coast of Portugal”, Progress in Renewable Energies Offshore, Guedes Soares, C., (Ed.), Taylor & Francis Group, London, UK, pp. 119-127

This paper investigates the summary statistics and the probability distribution functions of the 10-meter wind speed in oceanic areas of Portugal. The main goal is to apply a regionalization method to define statistically homogeneous regions and then analyze the probabilistic moments, the wind power density, first quartile and higher percentiles within each region. The Regional Frequency Analysis based on L-moments, a linear combination of the probabilistic weighted moments, was implemented using five years of atmospheric simulations run by the Weather Research and Forecast model (WRF).
