Peak period (Tp) distributions conditioned on significant wave heights (Hs) of Aguçadoura are studied by modelling the average conditional exceedance of peak periods m (tp). Functional forms of m (tp) from gamma and three-parameter Weibull are consistent with non-linearly distributed computed values whereas m (tp) of the generalized Pareto (GP3) is a linear function. Models are estimated by the method of L-moments. Estimated mean, average of one-third and one-tenth highest peak periods from m (tp) are coherent with computed values. GP3 estimates (from general formula for Ts) of average of one-third highest peak periods are also proximate to computed values. Average peak period of one-third highest significant wave heights are contiguous to average of one third highest peak periods. Empirical ratio of Ts to T of 1.2 is well interpreted by ratio of average of one-third highest peak periods to mean peak periods. Weibull and GP3 estimates of most probable peak periods in the region and GP3 estimates of most frequent predominant peak period associated with significant wave heights (2 m = Hs = 4 m) are proximate to computed values.
