This paper deals with fast approaches to predict the behaviour and the ultimate bending moment of steel box girder structures. Extensive calculations have been performed using different existing formulations to calculate the ultimate bending moment of three corroded box girders. A new fast approach has been developed and validated based on different existing approaches and experimental results to account for the changes in both geometrical and mechanical properties of corroded steel box structures. Based on experimental results, a relationship has been developed to calculate the equivalent tangent modulus of corroded steel structures as a function of the total reduction of the cross sectional area subjected to compressive load.
