Ventura, M. and Guedes Soares, C. (2016), “Modelling stiffened plate panels in computer aided ship design”, Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment, Vol. 230(1), pp. 55-66

The objective of this work is to develop a comprehensive concept of stiffened panels, which are the basic component of ship hull structures, so that it can be implemented as a general purpose component in a Computer-Aided Ship Design system tool. The different configurations of stiffened panels used in shipbuilding are analysed together with the functionalities required for the generation of the associated product data. The methodologies for their geometric definition and representation are presented for application in systems in which the hull moulded shape is described by parametric surfaces.
