The main goal is to construct new surface wind fields combined with additional tests using the wave model WAVEWATCHIII to better simulate extreme events of significant wave height in Brazil – which is essential for the coastal and marine safety, offshore industry, structure design and ship routes.
Besides, the simulation of 9 wave hindcasts (generated with 6 different wind fields) together with 6 long-term distributions are analyzed in terms of the impact on return values of significant wave height (........, the 100-year design wave, for example)
Therefore, this study joins numerical wave model simulations with a long-term stochastic approach.
