Stiffened panels are basic components of the hull and other major structures, of which the pitting corrosion wastage associated with the safety of ship structure. In this paper, a research on the influence of pitting corrosion to residual ultimate strength of stiffened panels has been made by a series of non-linear finite analysis (Non-FEA). The parameters of pit position, diameter, number, depth, and corroded volume loss will be investigated for the stiffened panels subjected to axial compressive load, respectively. It is found that the pits will induce the buckling failure of stiffened panel. All the parameters discussed in this paper have significant influence on the residual ultimate strength of the pitting corroded stiffened panel.
