The effect of emergency repaired cracks is presented through a series of finite element analyses in single hull structures so as to control the effect of the crack on the reduced structural compressive capacity. The effect of several crack lengths and locations around the midship section is analysed. Crack arresters will be temporarily mounted as a patch/stiffener arrester. The effect of arrester solution on recovering the reduced structural bending capacity, flexural rigidity and deformed shapes due to the presence of the cracks is investigated. Several conclusions are derived, which benefit the repair and maintenance actions of damaged steel structures.
