Sutulo, S. and Guedes Soares, C. (2015), “Development of a core mathematical model for arbitrary manoeuvres of a shuttle tanker”, Applied Ocean Research, 2015, Vol. 51, pp. 293-308

Results of experimental tests of wind forces acting on two ship models are presented and discussed in this paper. Measurements have been performed in a wind tunnel utilizing floating LNG platform and LNG carrier models. Tests were carried out for several different cases of models location, starting from rotation of single model at full incidence of wind attack and finishing with study of interaction effects of two vessels in wind condition. In order to complement this investigation, two simplified methods of wind loads estimation have been implemented. Results are presented in the graphical form of coefficients of the drag and lift force components and yaw moment.
