In this work is presented the development of a system designed to sense anomalies in the production process of a shipyard and to provide a reaction by issuing messages and alerts. The objective is to avoid delays or at least to minimize the impact on the production process. The reaction is aware of the physical location of people, equipment and manufactured parts. The system is also able to distribute context aware production related information. For this purpose, the manufacturing process of the steel workshop of a small-size shipyard is analyzed. The application localization and sensor requirements needed to establish the context were specified together with the adopted technologies. The personnel roles and their information requirements are identified. The generic architecture of the software is described. The functionalities of the workstations to be installed in the workshop are specified as well as some aspects of their user interface
