In the present paper the free surface turbulent flow around a forward moving Wigley hull is studied for various Froude numbers. Reynolds averaged Navier- Stokes equations (RANS) are solved using OpenFOAM. The solver used is intended for solving the flow of two incompressible isothermal fluids (in this case water and air) using a volume of fluid method for capturing the border between the two phases. To close the RANS the k?ù SST turbulence model is used. Boundary conditions at the hull wall are formulated using the wall functions. The numerical mesh consists of 806,000 cells. Calculations are conducted for Froude numbers between 0.25 and 0.408. Results of calculations of free surface profiles near the hull agree reasonably well with known experiments. In particular the bow wave overshoot increases as the Froude number increases. Experiments demonstrate the same picture.
