The objective of this work is to analyze the effect of residual stress on the ultimate strength assessment of a stiffened panel. The analysis is performed by a nonlinear finite element method. The ultimate strength is evaluated for 3 finite element models accounting for different levels of residual stresses and boundary conditions in order to develop modified stress strain curves that can be used directly for nonlinear finite element analyses of ultimate strength of stiffened panels.
