Chen, N.-Z. and Guedes Soares, C. (2007), "Reliability Assessment of Post-buckling Compressive Strength of Laminated Composite Plates and Stiffened Panels under Axial Compression", International Journal of Solids and Structures, 2007, Vol. 44, pp. 7167-7182.

An approach for reliability assessment of laminated composite plates and stiffened composite panels under axial compression towards ultimate compressive strength is proposed in the paper. The ultimate compressive strength of laminated composite plates and stiffened composite panels under axial compression is estimated by a progressive collapse analysis. The modeling uncertainties of the strength model and loading model, the strength parameters of material, thickness of lamina, fiber orientation angle and the compressive load are considered as random variables and subjected to different probability distributions in the reliability analysis. The reliability estimation is approached by determination of the point on the limit state surface with minimum distance to the origin in standard normal space using a geometric method and the sensitivities of the reliability estimates with respect to random variables are discussed.
