Cargo and oil transport to the ports and transfer operations cause air pollution with hydrocarbons, particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Health and environmental impact of air pollution is highlighted. Measures for mitigating the adverse effect of port activities on the air pollution are commented.
