As a typical load on an offshore platform, helicopter landing impact load is the design scenario for determining the scantling required to resist aircraft landing. Due to the harsh environment, helicopters landing on land have greater vertical speed than helicopters landing on offshore platforms. However, most of these loads are difficult to measure directly. One possible approach is to measure the structural response and then identify the impact load information using identification methods. The parameters in the load identification method determine the accuracy of load identification. This paper proposes a time-domain impact load identification method based on Green’s kernel function, and a particle swarm optimisation algorithm is used to optimise the parameters. The proposed method is validated through numerical simulations for tyre impact loads acting on a stiffened plate typically used in naval architecture and ocean engineering.
