Zhong, YP., Sun, XF. and Guedes Soares, C. (2025), Application of a correction matrix Moving Particle Semi-implicit GPU solver on numerical wave flumes, Ocean Engineering, Vol. 332, 121346.
A stable in-house Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) GPU framework is developed, integrating new improvements in the MPS solver and a series of parallel algorithms designed based on CUDA parallel acceleration technology. A numerical wave flume model based on this framework is proposed for generating high-precision waves. The numerical simulations of a dam break benchmark test and second-order Stokes waves are carried out to verify the solver’s accuracy and convergence and to analyse the solver’s computational efficiency. The results demonstrate that the MPS-GPU solver can achieve high accuracy, especially in wave numerical simulations. Additionally, the MPS-GPU solver provides superior computational efficiency compared to a CPU-only program, even with relatively few particles. These findings offer further insights into the practical application of the MPS method in numerical wave flumes, presenting potential value for engineering applications.
