Guedes Soares, C. and Cherneva, Z. (2005), “Spectrogram Analysis of the Time Frequency Characteristics of Ocean Wind Waves”, Ocean Engineering, Vol. 32, Issues 14-15, pp. 1643-1663
An experimental investigation of the wind wave is presented. The objective of the field is the non-stationarity of wind wave groups. The main goal is to investigate the change of the power spectral density function during the time when the group exists. To describe the time-frequency energy properties of wind wave the short time Fourier transform and spectrogram are used. It is made a hypothesis that the process of the energy transmission from high to low frequencies during the storm is realized not continuously but in portions exactly in the wave groups.
