Clarindo, G. and Guedes Soares, C. (2021), “Environmental wave contours for the West Coast of Fuerteventura”, Developments in Renewable Energies Offshore, Guedes Soares, C. (Ed.), Taylor and Francis, London, UK, pp. 3-10.

This paper presents the environmental wave contours derived by Inverse-First Order Reliability Methods to be used for the design conditions of offshore marine structures. The main steps of environmental contours method are followed for derivation of the contours as well as to compute the extreme sea states combination along the contours for engineering, to design of marine energy facilities. This work derives the environmental contours for three different offshore locations of the West Coast of Fuerteventura Island based on robust hindcast database. These points are crucial for future development of marine energy presenting a vital wave energy production in spatial-seasonal terms. Five extremes sea wave combinations along the twenty years contours for design purpose are extracted and some remarkable recommendations are made.
