Guedes Soares, C. (1991), “On the Ocurrence of Double Peaked Wave Spectra”, Ocean Engineering, Vol. 18, Issue 1-2, pp. 167-171
Data on the occurrence of double peaked spectra in the North Sea have been analyzed, indicating that they appear to have similar probability of occurrence than in the North Atlantic, which has been reported previously. Significant differences have been shown to exist between open sea stations and coastal stations in both sea areas, but there are no significant differences between the data from the same type of stations from both areas. A regression equation is derived which predicts the probability of occurrence of double peaked spectra in open areas of the North Atlantic and North Sea for sea states higher than 3-4 m.
