Pereira, L.T., Costa, T.C., Marta-Almeida, M. and Guedes Soares, C. (2016), “Modeling of the western Iberian oceanic currents with ROMS”, Maritime Technology and Engineering 3, Guedes Soares, C. & Santos T. A., (Eds.), 2016, Taylor & Francis Group, London, UK, pp. 1073-1078
The Regional Ocean Modeling System is implemented to model the west Iberian coast with a spatial resolution of 3km using the boundary, climatological and initial conditions from the Atlantic-Iberian Biscay Irish-Ocean Physics Reanalysis product from the EU Copernicus Marine Service at 1/12º resolution. The atmospheric forcing is from the Climate Forecast System Reanalysis at 1/3.2º resolution. The ocean model results are first validated using satellite sea surface temperature and afterwards in situ currents, temperature and salinity data from moorings available at the Copernicus Service.
