The project seeks to develop a co-operative forum focusing on the creation and development of an integrative, know-how providing, problem solving, technology-driving organisation. It involves the management of co-ordinated processes aimed at supporting and disseminating research-based innovation but innovation that supports competitiveness and industrial and societal needs. The outcome of this project is to create a "European Maritime Virtual Institute" (EVIMAR) combining the capabilities and special expertise of 17 partners from industry, maritime and business research organisation, universities and legal advisors being able to provide access to long-term strategic visions and the correspondingly required maritime technologies. EVIMAR will also create the necessary awareness for cohesive development needs of future issues related to the maritime industry, the corresponding policy and necessary administration matters.
