Measurement and Analysis of the Analysis of the Distortion of Ship Plates (Distorted Plates)

A study will be conducted to establish the effect of localised initial imperfections on the compressive strength of ship plating, in order to determine the minimum size of localised imperfections that a measuring system should be able to detect and register.
An equipment will be specified, designed and constructed in order to conduct automatic measurements of distortions and plate tickness as well as to process them in real time.
A pilot study will be conducted in order to test the equipment and to indicate the improvements that are necessary to be introduced in the initial version.
